Vast amounts of environmental information are available, but they are often too complex, fragmented or difficult to use during disaster preparedness and response. This creates a gap between scientific knowledge and the information decision-makers can apply in practice.
That is where Blu-H comes in.
How we deliver our mission
1. Make information practical: We translate environmental science and publicly available data into useful early-warning and decision-support information.
2. Develop solutions collaboratively: We work with researchers, humanitarian organisations, national agencies and technical partners to ensure our information and tools respond to genuine operational needs.
3. Keep knowledge open, responsible and accessible: We use open methods and accessible tools wherever possible, while protecting personal, partner and operationally sensitive information.

Dear Partners, Colleagues, and Friends of the Humanitarian Community,
We live in an era of paradox. While our technological capacity to observe Earth from space has reached unprecedented precision, the world’s most vulnerable communities face deepening insecurity. Floods, droughts, and wildfires are no longer isolated incidents; they are systemic threats to our collective stability.
For over twenty years - from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory to the front lines of scientific research - I have seen the immense potential of satellite data. Yet, I have also witnessed a persistent gap: technological innovation often fails to reach those who need it most. As the global humanitarian sector faces unprecedented pressure on resources and budgets, we can no longer afford a purely reactive stance.
This is why we founded Blu-H.
Blu-H is more than a non-profit; it is a bridge between cutting-edge scientific expertise and concrete humanitarian action. By leveraging advancements in space technology and numerical modeling, we transform complex data into vital, actionable decision-making tools.
Our mission is focused on three pillars:
Anticipate: Developing innovative early warning systems to stay ahead of crises.
Support: Providing rigorous expert consultation for public and humanitarian actors.
Empower: Building local capacity and resilience through specialised training.
Resilience cannot be imported; it must be built collaboratively. At Blu-H, we believe that access to information and technology is a fundamental right and a prerequisite for global safety.
