BLU-H is a non-profit association (ASBL) delivering Humanitarian Environmental Intelligence. We bridge advanced data science and frontline decision-making, transforming satellite data and geospatial analytics into actionable insight for humanitarian responders and national authorities.
Our governance framework ensures our work is ethical, transparent, independent, and focused on public benefit—particularly in flood and environmental risk contexts.
Collaboration is central to BLU-H, but it is always guided by clear safeguards. We work with researchers, humanitarian organizations, and public agencies to develop and deploy flood intelligence responsibly, ensuring trust, accountability, and protection of vulnerable communities.
BLU-H operates on a simple principle: Open where we can, protected where we must.
We share methodologies, code, and technical roadmaps openly where possible to enable peer review, reuse, and continuous improvement across the global humanitarian and scientific community. At the same time, sensitive information—including personal data, partner materials, and safeguarding records—is protected through secure internal systems and strict access controls, ensuring ethical use and compliance with data protection obligations.
As a registered ASBL, all funds received by BLU-H are used exclusively to advance our humanitarian mission, sustain our technical infrastructure, and support responsible operations. Our governance practices are regularly reviewed and strengthened as our programs and partnerships grow, in line with best practice in humanitarian action, data ethics, and non-profit accountability.
